Silk is a born in Canada academic. Silk was born in Fredericton. She was her father's daughter Peter Silk, who was a professor and Ilkay who was a playwright as well as director. She was also known for her acting. Some of Anna's earliest memories were of going to play rehearsals with her mother and watching her do her job. Silk featured in a number of commercials when she was a kid. She graduated from St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas staged at least two early plays: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk relocated from Toronto and moved to Los Angeles in the decade following 1999. She met her future husband, Seth Cooperman, at an Actor's training held in Los Angeles, in 2007. The couple was legally married in December of 2009. They renewed their vows on on April 10, 2011, in Fredericton during an Jewish ceremony following her conversion to Jewish.
